All activities have three modes of operation Goal, Practice, and Custom. These modes affect the order of drills, the content, and whether or not progress is credited. The goal mode button cycles between the following colors when pressed.
Think of Goal mode as the test you must pass to move ahead and make progress. Progress is only credited in Goal mode.
Use Practice mode to review levels or generate additional drills based on a level. Practice drills do not count toward your level of mastery shown on the Progress page.
Use Custom mode to practice specific areas of weakness. You can select just the elements you need and create your own custom drills. see also Settings Overview
You may freely switch between Goal, Practice, and Custom modes. MusicGoals only records progress in Goal mode.
